As part of the venue interpretation services, each department handled interpretation, guidance, and athlete support, and all members worked together to support the event. We were able to experience the runners' enthusiasm and the excitement of the venue, and it was an event that gave us a great deal of energy.
The diverse roles of interpreting work
The job of an interpreter is not simply to translate words. At the conference, I was responsible for a wide range of tasks, including the following:
Player support
We respond quickly to questions and requests so that athletes can focus on their competition with peace of mind. Building trust and overcoming language barriers is crucial.
Venue Information
We provided guidance to visitors and staff regarding movement within the venue and use of facilities. Clear and thorough explanations were especially required for participants from overseas.
The moment you can feel the passion of the runners
The highlight of the competition is undoubtedly the runners' all-out effort and the cheers of the spectators supporting them. Standing on-site as an interpreter, I can feel the energy firsthand, and it naturally energizes me.
Success supported by teamwork
Running a tournament cannot be done by one person alone. All the interpreting members helped each other, shared information, and worked together. Their constant smiles and positive attitude helped to lighten the atmosphere on site.
