The objectives of the field training and the guidance of Professor Keiko Ichinei

This training program went beyond simply acquiring knowledge; it emphasized practical application in real-world situations. Professor Ichinei provided each participant with an opportunity to test what they had prepared on-site and receive feedback. Professor Ichinei's dedicated guidance further boosted the participants' enthusiasm and served as a driving force for deepening the quality of their learning.

  • Practical training content

Participants conducted research and preparations in advance and were responsible for presentations and explanations at the site. Conversations on the day were conducted in English as much as possible.

  • Professor Ichinei's careful instruction

We provide specific advice and areas for improvement to facilitate understanding.

  • Interaction among participants

A place to broaden one's knowledge through the exchange of opinions and the sharing of information.

This structure allowed participants not only to test their knowledge but also to make new discoveries.

Rediscover the charm of Onuma Quasi-National Park

Through the training, many participants discovered things they didn't know before and things they found interesting. Onuma Quasi-National Park is a place where you can feel not only the richness of its nature, but also the diversity of its history, culture, and topography.

  • diversity of the natural environment

A diverse ecosystem woven from lakes, wetlands, and forests.

  • Historical background

A place where local legends and the history of settlement come alive.

  • Seasonal changes

The fresh green of spring, the deep green of summer, and the vibrant autumn foliage—each season offers a different facet of beauty.

Participants deepened their learning by actually walking around and observing the characteristics of plants and terrain. Experiences in nature promote a real-world understanding that cannot be obtained in the classroom.

Participant output and learning outcomes

The highlight of the training was the time when each participant presented what they had prepared in English on-site and received feedback from Professor Ichinei. Presenting in a real environment was nerve-wracking, but it was a major factor in deepening our learning.

  • Examples of specific presentation topics

- The history of the formation of the topography of Lake Onuma

- Ecology and role of specific plants

- The relationship between local culture and nature

  • Feedback points

- Accuracy and clarity of information

- Creative methods of expression

- How to speak in a way that engages the audience

This process allowed participants to check their level of understanding and identify areas for improvement. Professor Ichinei's instruction was not merely about transmitting knowledge, but about fostering the growth of the participants.

What I felt after completing the training

Throughout the day, participants gained a renewed appreciation for the profound beauty of Onuma Quasi-National Park. Learning in nature provides insights and feelings that cannot be obtained from textbooks and materials alone. Professor Ichinei's enthusiastic guidance and the participants' proactive attitudes led to the success of the training.
